The importation of dogs and cats into the Republic of Uganda is subject to the availability of an
official and authentic Permit which must be obtained and signed from the authorized Veterinary
Surgeon of the area in the country of origin, i.e. Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland etc.

The following Certificates are normally required:
a) A Health and Origin Certificate issued by a Local Veterinary authorized Surgeon or official
properly singed and stamped within 10 days of shipment certifying freedom from disease.
b) A Certificate issued by an authorized and official Department giving county or area freedom
from rabies. This certificate is referred to as a "Movement Permit".
c) Valid Certificates for all the relevant vaccinations.

a) Dogs require vaccination against distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis and rabies, not less than
30 days prior to arrival at any entry point to Uganda.
b) Dogs must be vaccinated against Parvo-virus not more than 30 days prior to arrival in Uganda.
c) Cats require vaccinations against feline enteritis and rabies not less than 30 days prior to arrival
at any entry point to Uganda.

Dogs and Cats must not come into contact with any dog or cat whilst in transit. To ensure this,
each animal should be crated.
